Season's Second Tournament
was:
Saturday, 9 July
Angus Glen Golf Club: North Course , Markham
Located at 10080 Kennedy Road. From Toronto, exit off Hwy 404 at Major MacKenzie Drive, go east to Kennedy Road, turn north on Kennedy; Angus Glen is the second driveway on the west (left) side.
Known on an international level for hosting two PGA tour events on both of its championship courses, the guests of Angus Glen are able to walk the same greens as the pros and focus on the mastery of their game. The fairways on the North Course at Angus Glen are lined with jagged, peaky, fescue-covered dunes, and riddled with three and four foot sod wall bunkers. While the fescue dunes are grown freely to their natural height of approximately two feet, the sod walls are kept tightly trimmed to reveal the menacing vertical faces complete with the Scottish-style layering of the sod.
The Providence Bentgrass on the tees, greens and fairways of the North Course exhibits an upright growth characteristic, providing a good lie for fairway shots, and a true roll on the putting surfaces. With a steady topdressing and grooming program in place, the greens are kept relatively fast, and the subtle undulations will test the skills of even the best putters.

Season's Third Tournament
was:
Saturday, 13 August
Osprey Valley Resorts Golf Club: the Toot, Caledon
Located at 18821 Main Street, is 5 km west of Hwy 10 and just north of Hwy 24.
The parkland style course, Toot is a scenic beauty in the 'Pine Valley' tradition, the course can be as imposing as it is picturesque. "… visually stunning and will put a golfer's game to the supreme test. The 10-11-12 combo on the Toot are a triple threat to become one of the GTA's favourite threesome. The 150-yard, par-three 11th, with a small lake protecting the hole at the front and a pine forest shadowing a very narrow green from the back, is enough to make a grown man cry - with tears of joy."

The UGAC, established in 2001, is based on the model of longstanding Ukrainian golf associations in Australia and the United States, the latter Ukrainian Golf Association of Great Britain, the Ukrainian Golf Team in Germany, and now most recently the Golf Association of Ukraine.
The UGAC has founding members in Toronto, Montreal, and Winnipeg and is looking to offer golfing opportunities to Ukrainians from across Canada. The UGAC has three main goals. Firstly, the association will organize competitive golfing among our membership staging an annual Canadian individual championship. Secondly, within this competitive context, will provide opportunities for social networking and camaraderie within the broad Ukrainian community in Canada. Thirdly, and most far reaching, is to participate in international golfing events with our parallel golf associations across the world.
Membership is open to Canadians of Ukrainian ancestry, those who have familial relations, and those who through their association with Ukrainians, may be appointed as "honourary Ukrainians". The minimum age to participate is 16. To register for membership, complete the Membership Registration Form as found on our web site at www.ugolf.ca or click here. Younger players are eligible for Junior membership.
Although our events are open to all, our members will enjoy lower cost of participation and value-added benefits.
As in previous years, our individual Net Stableford and Gross Stableford Champion Golfers for 2008 will be determined by combining the player’s best score from the first 2 season tournaments with the Finale tournament score. |
