Saturday, 24 May, Season Opening Tournament
Inaugural Toronto vs. Montreal Ukrainian Golf Challenge

Rain, rain, rain, and a bit of wind. Of the 35 players, most completed their rounds without the need for snorkels or flippers. Strangely, we seemed to be the only people on the course?! New acquaintances were forged with the hopes of making the Toronto vs. Montreal (Ontario vs. Quebec) Challenge an annual event.

Net Stableford category,
Winner: Charles Taylor, Team Quebec, 9 Hdcp, gross score of 84 for 33 points,
Runner-up: Bohdan Kushnir, Team Ontario,14 Hdcp, gross score of 90 for 32 points.

Gross Stableford category,
Winner: Andrei Borys, Team Quebec (though he now lives in Toronto), 8 Hdcp, gross score of 81 for 29 points,
Runner-up: Dan Ostapiak, Team Ontario,10 Hdcp, gross score of 81 for 27 points.

Ontario vs. Quebec Team Winners,
Quebec captured this first ever inter-city competition by a narrow margin with a total of 231 points vs Ontario's 228 points. The coveted championship Golfing Frog trophy will be in the hands of our friends from Montreal the year. Be prepared for next year!

Handicaps to be modified:
Bohdan Kushnir, reduced from 14 to 12.

Runner-up: Myron Kopystansky, 14 Hdcp, gross score of 82 for 27 points

Winner: Richard Vedlin, 9 Hdcp, gross score of 76 for 32 points,
Runner-up: Dan Ostapiak, Team Ontario,10 Hdcp, gross score of 81 for 27 points.

Handicaps to be modified:

Season Finale Championship Tournament

White tees, 7000 yards, 3 point bonus

Winner: Roman Czyrsky, 22 Hdcp, gross score of 93 for 41 points,
Runner-up: Roman Kocur, 23 Hdcp, gross score of 92 for 39 points,
Tie for Runner-Up in 3rd place on retrogression: Eugene Masney, 14 Hdcp, score of 82 for 39 points.

Gross Stableford category,
Winner: Richard Vedlin, 9 Hdcp, gross score of 81 for 28 points,
Runner-up: Dan Ostapiak, 10 Hdcp, gross score of 81 for 27 points.

Roman Kocur, reduced from 23 to 21.

Champion Golfers for 2003

Champions in each of Net and Gross Stableford categories are determined by the high total of scores from a minimum of 2 tournaments. Two scores are necessary to qualify for the individual championship of which one score must be posted at the Season Finale tournament. A player may compete in any or all events, as desired, with the best score from the first 3 events being totaled with the Finale score.

Champion Net Stableford category,
Roman Kocur, 21 Hdcp, score total of 47 + 39 = 86 points.

Champion Gross Stableford category,
Richard Vedlin, 9 Hdcp, score total of 32 + 28 = 60 points.

Handicaps to be modified:
Roman Czyrsky, reduced from 22 to 20,
Roman Kocur, reduced from 23 to 21.
