The most recent event, the Ukrainian World Golf Challenge
II held in Puerto Banus, Spain,
from 6 to 13 May 2001 pitted players from Australia (the biggest
delegation), Canada, USA, England, Germany, and even one from
Ukraine; there were 94 golfers, over 150 attendees in all.
Truly a memorable and unique experience for everyone who participated.
Canada led in the standings for the first 3 days of play,
but was swamped by a surging Australian team to overcome a
25 point lead. Final totals: Oz with 1457, Canuks had 1445,
Team Europe at 1342, and USA at 1311. Players from Canada,
as did those from the other teams, came outfitted in matching
team shirts for each day of competitive play. We are proud
to say that we also came with the coolest golf
towels ever seen, true collectors' items, to share
with our fellow competitors.
